Viola (Bishop) Fogg

Viola (Bishop) Fogg went to her Lord Jesus, passing peacefully in the arms of her son, Jon.  She has lived with Jon and his wife Deborah in Brooksville, FL for 4 years.  She had been a North Berwick resident for 60 plus years, prior to selling her farm at 107 Maple Street. 

She was born February 15th, 1926 in Madison, Maine, daughter of Joseph Mullen Bishop and Deline Bishop.  Viola loved music and tap danced at fairs and for local events and played basketball.  After high school she moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she lived with her sister Polly.  When Elmer Fogg returned from the military, stationed in North Africa and Italy, they married and moved back to Maine.  He became a warden for Inland Fish and Game and, along with their daughter, moved to East  Musquash Lake.  Later living in Topsfield, ME., then to North Berwick. 

Viola taught herself to play piano “by ear”.  She played PAR 3 golf, bowled weekly, and swam at the YMCA (“14 laps”).

“Vi” said she had no spiritual gifts, but always encouraged people from behind the scenes.  She was a member of First Baptist Church for 60 years. 

Viola was a part of the early beginnings of Hackmatack Playhouse.  She appeared in 'Arsenic and Old Lace' with her friends Marie Dutch and Stan Thompson, Jr.

Viola worked briefly at the local shoe shop, worked at the A&P in North Berwick and the Ogunquit Information Bureau.  She owned the Antique Shop in the center of town. 

“Vi” loved sitting on the porch in the sun, but mostly she loved her cats.  She offered her home for Bible Study class for 14 years.

Viola was predeceased by her husband, Elmer and infant son; brothers, Gilbert Bishop of Norridgewock, ME., sister Pauline (Bishop) Lewis of Silver Springs, MD.

She will be missed by her son, Jon Fogg  and wife Deborah of Brooksville, FL.; daughter, Susan (Fogg) Greenwood and husband Wayne  of Wesley Chapel, FL.

Grandchildren:  Wendy(Greenwood) Baisley and husband Caleb of Merrimac, MA.; Holly Beth (Greenwood) Romano and husband Tony  of Sanford ME.; Jason  Fogg and wife Heather of Rochester, NH.; Jon  Fogg, Jr and wife Amanda of Dexter, MO.; Holly (Stubbs)Patricks and husband Mike of Newport News, VA.

Great grandchildren:  Alisha Romano of Sanford, ME.; Sawyer and Camryn Fogg of Rochester, NH.; Dillon and Kaleigh Fogg of Dexter, MO.; Devin Romano of Lebanon, ME.

Great-great grandchildren:  Cooper and Carter Campbell of Sanford, ME as well as many nieces and nephews.

Vi’s favorite scripture:  Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Interment will be in the spring at Forest Hills Cemetery, Park Street, Madison, ME.

Per Viola’s request, there will be no services.
