Thomas H. Bassett, Jr.

Thomas (Tom) H. Bassett, Jr., 74, of North Berwick died in Portsmouth, NH on November 28, 2022, following a prolonged period of worsening health.

  Born to Thomas H. and Kathleen (Ryan) Bassett in Nashua, NH on May 2, 1948, a graduate of Nashua High in 1966, Tom most recently lived in Kittery, ME.

 He was a proud veteran, having served in Vietnam from July 1968 to June 1969 as a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 2nd Platoon. For his service he was awarded The Bronze Star, The Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and the US Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement. He also earned the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and Campaign Medal and the 1st Cavalry Division Vietnam Combat Certificate. He was a retiree of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and spent much of his retirement pursuing his passions for art and music.

 He is survived by his son Eric W. Bassett, and two sisters, Kathleen J. Bassett, and Dianne (Bassett) Swain.
