Stephen Fleming Obituary

Stephen R. Fleming, 55, of Shapleigh, ME, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 14, 2020.

Stephen was born in Sanford, ME, September 27, 1964, the son of Rev. Gordon and Lois (Randall) Fleming.  He graduated from the Dublin Christian Academy in Dublin, NH before proudly serving in the United States Army, based in South Korea during peacetime.

Upon returning home, he worked as a woodsman for Dick Thompson.  In 1998, he married the love of his life, Jessica Weymouth, raising two children in Shapleigh.  Steve attended HD Mechanical School in Orlando, Florida, becoming a certified Harley Davidson Motorcycle Mechanic, then fulfilling his dream of opening his own shop, SR Cycles in Shapleigh.  Steve was known as a one of the best in the business, a straight shooter and highly knowledgeable in all things Harley.

Steve was a quiet soul who enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Maine woods and loved his motorcycles.  He had fond memories of his trip to Sturgis and of his yearly trips to North and South Carolina.  Steve bowled in a Wednesday night league at Bow-a-Rama in Sanford.  He loved their dogs, Samuel, Claudia and Cash.

More than anything, Steve loved his family and was an awesome dad.  He made many memories with them, whether it be taking them for rides on the bike or ice fishing or attending track meets.  He was proud of his kids.    Grace and Steve had Saturday night bowling dates and went on annual Father’s Day rides; she loved riding in the sidecar.  Steve spent a lot of time with Sam helping him earn badges through Boy Scouts and going on camping trips with the troop.

Steve was pre-deceased by his parents Gordon and Lois Fleming; and mother in law, Sandra Weymouth.  He will forever be missed by his wife of 22 years, Jessica (Weymouth) Fleming and their children, Samuel and Grace Fleming, all of Shapleigh; his brother with whom he was exceptionally close, Timothy Fleming and his wife Laurie of Derry, NH; 2 sisters, Rebekah Ross of Manchester, NH and Linda Fleming and her significant other James Church of Sanford, ME; father in law Leslie Weymouth and brother in law John Weymouth, both of North Berwick, ME; nephew, Jeffrey Fleming and his wife Sarah and their son Timmy Two; nieces Kristin and Amanda Fleming, Kassidy Ross and Crystal Michel; numerous cousins and friends and his longtime trusted friend and employee, Nick Harriman.
