Sibyl Jean Bentley

Sibyl Jean Bentley, 79 of Sanford passed away at her home in Springvale May 5, 2025 after a battle with cancer.

She was born December 1, 1945 in Manchester, CT, the daughter of Rodney and Mary (Hitt) Bentley.  Sibyl was a hairstylist for many years, before working for Cyro in Sanford.  Later in life, she earned her BA in Nursing working as an RN for the York County Jail and retiring from the Newton Center in Sanford.

Sibyl loved handywork; whether it be crocheting, knitting, stenciling or refinishing furniture, she knew how to do it all and if she didn’t, she taught herself!

The family would like to thank all of her neighbors and especially her great-nephew Lorrenzo Moran who lived with and cared for Sibyl during her final months. 

She was pre-deceased by her parents and 4 siblings; Sandra (Bentley) Weymouth, David Bentley, Donald Bentley, Dick Bentley.  She is survived by her brother Dan Bentley and wife Melodie Esterberg of Rochester, NH as well as numerous nieces and nephews and Cosmo the cat.
