Shirley A. (Knight) Chase

Shirley A. Chase, 78,  surrounded by her family danced her way into heaven  on January 4th, 2023.  She was born in Dover NH, on February 10, 1944 to Francis and Marjorie (Stevens) Knight. 

She was a long time South Berwick resident and attended South Berwick High School. She was a hard worker and was employed by several local shoe companies including Duchess/Colby Footwear and Tierra Shoe as a bottom cementer. Later she worked at Seacoast Cancer Center as a custodian and Home Instead Health Care in Cape Coral FL as a caregiver.

Shirley loved the outdoors especially the beach, cooking and home gardening. She was a social butterfly who loved to go out to eat with friends and dance. She spent the last ten years residing in Fort Meyers, Florida where she made many new great friends and spent time at the pool, playing cards, and socializing with her friends.  She was a loving wife and mother and a great caregiver to many of her family members throughout the years.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents Francis and Marjorie Knight and her late husband’s Arthur Chase, and Thomas Fleury. Shirley is survived by her son Jeffrey and daughter in law Dawn Chase of South Berwick and her dog Charlie.

The family would like to thank all the Nurses, home aids, and staff at Wentworth Homecare and Hospice for their great care and support. A special thanks to nurse Danielle for her extraordinary personal patient care.

A Celebration of Life  for Shirley A. Chase who passed away January 4, 2023, will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 11:30 am followed by a luncheon at the Zebulon Knight Hall, 612 Emery’s Bridge Road, South Berwick. 

. In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation to your favorite charity in Shirley’s name, and suggests you enjoy a Maine lobster dinner, Shirley’s favorite meal in her memory with your family and friends.
 

Shirley will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick.  Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick.  Condolences may be expressed at www.johnsonfuneralhomeme.com.
