Ruth E. Hupe, 82, of North Berwick, passed away peacefully November 16, 2025 after a period of failing health.
She was born October 14, 1943 in Bridgton, ME, the daughter of Bertrand and Evelyn (Knight) Cash. Ruth spent her early years in Naples, ME before moving to North Berwick in the 50’s; attending North Berwick High School.
Ruth was an icon at Agway in Sanford for many years where she loved meeting new people. She was the life of any gathering she attended, some might say “quite the character”; especially her folks at TOPS #ME0113, Sanford where she was active for years. She enjoyed playing BINGO at the Community Center and North Berwick Fire Station and gambling at Oxford Casino.
Ruth married her sweetheart, Richard in 1962 and kept him on his toes for 63 years! Together they raised three beautiful children. Ruth was a very proud wife, mother and grandmother, always sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. She simply adored her family.
Her family remembers how comforting, smart, sensitive, kind-hearted and empathetic she was, even though she was as stubborn as a mule!
Ruth was pre-deceased by her brothers, Cecil, Donald and Robert Cash and her beloved eldest child, Steven Hupe in 1984. She will be forever loved by her husband, Richard; son Tom; daughter Linda Langelier and partner Barry Seymour all of North Berwick; brothers David (Connie) Cash and Eddie Cash; sister Bertha (Robert) Morin; 3 grandsons, Steven Langelier and his wife, Tia, Jacob Seymour and Dillon Seymour and her beautiful great-granddaughter, Aubrey Langelier. She will also be missed dearly by her numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 21 at 10am at Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, ME followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com
