Rowland (Bud) Mansfield Hussey, Jr., 97, a resident at Birchwood Assisted Living, passed away peacefully March 28, 2020.
Born February 20, 1923 in Aliquippa, PA, Bud was the son of Rowland and Clara (Knight) Hussey. He attended Randolph Macon Military Academy in Virginia and college at Penn State University. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Navy during WWII, and returned to Penn State after the war where he earned his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. Bud worked as an engineer at Allison (Indiana) Curtis Wright (NJ) and General Electric (MA/NY) where he retired after 29 years with GE.
Bud was a 32nd degree Mason, lifelong competitive pistol shooter, hunter, constant tinkerer, student of all things mechanical and electrical, amateur radio operator, and devoted husband and father. Bud enjoyed the camp at Lake Moxie ME and the beach house in Wells ME.
After retirement Bud and his wife Dorothy traveled to Europe on several tours, and became active in camping, traveling the US and Mexico with both a 5th wheel camper and motorhomes.
He is pre-deceased by his wife of 69 years Dorothy (Dot) Monsell, who passed away in December of 2018.
Surviving are his son John A. Hussey and his partner Laura L Moriarty of Pittsfield ME; daughter Sandra M (Hussey) Donnelly of Wells ME; two grandchildren, Tabetha M Leach of Sanford ME and Robert M. Hussey, his wife Melissa A. and great-grandson, Hudson A. of Wells ME.
It is hoped that those who knew him will join the family in a celebration of his life to be held Saturday July 11, 2020 at 1:00PM at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4 Northcrest Dr Clifton Park, NY.
There will also be a second memorial service to be held Saturday July 18, 2020 at 12:00 at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St. North Berwick ME, with burial to follow at the Friends Quaker Burial Grounds in North Berwick, ME.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 4 Northcrest Drive, Clifton Park NY 12065, in memory of Bud and Dot Hussey.
