Roland Carr Obituary

Roland F. Carr, 83, of General John Sullivan Way, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 28, 2024, at Wentworth Douglas Hospital, after a period of declining health.

He was born October 14, 1941 in South Berwick, ME, the son of Franklin and Hazel (Brown) Carr.

Roland proudly served in the United States Army for four years, stationed in both the US and Germany.  While in Germany, he was assigned to the 32nd Armor Battalion, U.S. Army 3rd Armor Division.

Roland worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in several different roles for more than 30 years. He retired from the shipyard in 1993.

He married the love of his life, Judy Lambert in May of 1965, raising their daughters Denise and Christine in Rollinsford, NH.  He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren and great granddaughter.

He was an avid woodworker, having built amazing pieces of furniture that are still used to this day in several family member’s homes.  There was nothing that Roland couldn’t fix around the house, having been put to the test several times.  In fact, the family used to say, “if Papa can’t fix it, then nobody can.” Roland enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a sharp cribbage player.  He was an easy going soul, who was always willing to go along, and was friendly to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Lambert Carr of Rollinsford, NH, daughter Denise Beaudoin and her husband Dale Beaudoin of Moultonborough, NH, Christine Brooks and her husband Dale Brooks of Somersworth, NH, five grandchildren, Haley (Brooks) O’Connell and her husband Tommy O’Connell, Mitchell Brooks, Hannah Beaudoin, Emma Beaudoin and Sophia Beaudoin, and great-granddaughter Charlotte O’Connell.  He also enjoyed spoiling his grand-dogs, Bailey, Polly and Maeve.
