Rita L. Roberts, 83, of Acton passed away peacefully December 16, 2025, at Pinnacle Rehabilitation in Sanford.
She was born March 2, 1942, in Acton, the daughter of Crosby and Mildred (Sanborn) Laskey. Rita earned her associates degree from McIntosh College for Secretarial. For 5 years, she was the secretary at Acton Elementary School before helping her husband with the logging business, delivery firewood for over 40 years. Rita was best known for her 30 years of dedication as a rural route mail carrier in Acton, Lebanon and Milton. She was a hard-working woman who dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bailey Roberts, in 2018. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Johnson and husband, Michael of North Berwick with whom she has lived with for 3 years; 2 sons, Arthur Roberts, Dale Roberts and wife Debbie all of Acton; grandchildren, Stephen Brown, Whitney Newell, Michael Johnson, Jr, Jessica Johnson Badger, Matthew Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Samantha Roberts, Megan Roberts, Dale Roberts, Jr., Alicia Pulk as well as numerous great and great great-grandchildren. Also survived by 2 sisters, Polly Katwick and husband John of Milton, NH and Barbara Chambers and husband Paul of Holyoke, MA.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME. Interment in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in the spring.
