Richard L. Perkins, age 88 of River Road passed away June 10, 2025 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH.
He was born September 29, 1936 in Sanford, ME, the son of Elmer and Olive (Smith) Perkins. Richard graduated from Spaulding High School in 1955 before proudly serving in the U. S. Army. Upon his discharge, he worked construction. Many in the area will remember Richard as their school bus driver since he worked for SAD 60 driving the school bus for 30 years.
He married Alice Blanchard in 1960, raising 5 children in Lebanon, ME. He and Alice enjoyed spending time with family and friends. They have been long standing members of Grace Baptist Church in East Rochester, NH.
Richard enjoyed gardening and collecting coins. He loved reminiscing about the good ol’ days playing baseball and basketball in High School and he liked to make people laugh with his repertoire of jokes. He had a great ability to memorize and quote scripture, one of his favorites being Psalm 100.
Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice of Lebanon, ME; 4 sons, Glenn Perkins and wife, Jayne of Lebanon, ME, Craig Perkins and wife Melissa of New Durham, NH, Dwayne Perkins and wife, Karen of Newport News, VA. Christopher Perkins and wife, Lee of Sanford, ME and daughter Nancy Burke and husband Paul of Rochester, NH, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at the Grace Baptist Church, 899 Portland Street, Rochester, NH a public viewing from 12pm to 1pm, immediately followed by a funeral at 1pm followed by interment at Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon, ME.
