RANDALL VANCE DAWSON, (Randy) of North Berwick, Maine passed away from natural causes May 26 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire
Randy was born August 19, 1950 in Portland, Maine to Ernest Charles Dawson & Gloria Eunice Madden Dawson. He and his siblings grew up primarily on Pleasant Pond in Richmond & he graduated in the class of 1968 from Richmond High School. Randy did well in Cross Country, and was very proud to be on the famous " Richmond State Champions" team ... Upon graduating, he was already signed up to join the U.S. Air Force, following in his dad's footsteps.
Randy loved being in the Air Force & served in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand & finally England after close to 10 years service. Upon discharge, he settled in North Berwick & never moved again.
After returning to the states, he bought a tractor trailer rig & drove cross country until a tragedy struck his young family & suddenly took the life of his youngest son. Randy decided to stay close to home after that and did diesel mechanic work locally, that he learned in the military. He retired from "Rochester Truck" after many years.
He had an extraordinary talent & aptitude for restoring classic motorcycles & vintage Corvettes. This probably came from many hours with his BFF, Mike Pratt as a kid & teenager, making model cars. "Car modeling" turned into more than a hobby & he was well respected in "Southern Maine & New Hampshire" for his work. His wife, Rose did a lot of the custom paintings & "pin stripe jobs" on both cars & motorcycles.
Randy was predeceased by his parents; his youngest son Kenny and younger brother Scotty Dawson. He leaves behind his wife of many years, Rose; their daughter Jennifer Schofield, her husband Justin & their daughter Emily of Sanford; son Ronnie Dawson and his wife Gidget & their son Nicky of Parsons, Kansas. Mark Bouvier & his daughter Kylie from Sanford are also left behind as well as Randy's sister Valerie Dawson Orr from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. & her son Renaud E. Pelletier from Manchester, New Hampshire.
At Randy’s request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held later this summer. Interment will be in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, ME.
