We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Pauline Young, born on a farm in North Berwick, Maine and most recently a resident of Dover, NH. Pauline passed away on 5-21-24 at the age of 79 with her son Ice and daughter in law Julie by her side. Pauline was a Godly woman with deep faith and shared the Gospel with everyone around her.
She grew up on a farm where she developed a great love for animals and family and she loved to tell stories and reminisce about those times. She was an avid reader of many genres but her favorite book to read was the Bible. Pauline was a huge John Wayne fan and took joy in re-watching his films and collecting memorabilia but also loved western films and shows of all kinds. She loved listening to Kenny Rogers too and her kids remember 50’s and 60’s country music playing on the radio growing up.
Pauline worked in the newspaper office for years and also worked making ladies shoes – she and her husband Craig met in a shoe shop! But her biggest job and the one she was most proud of was raising her 3 children with Craig – her family was everything to her. Her husband Craig was her best friend and they were married for 55 years before Craig’s passing last year. They loved spending time together, going for walks, shopping or enjoying a good meal together – they just loved being together no matter what they were doing.
Pauline loved her brothers, Ben and Joe and her sister, Nancy and was particularly fond of spending time with Ben. She is survived by her 3 children, Katrina Marie with whom she spoke daily, Ice Scott with whom she had grown close in recent years and Victor Baughman who always put a smile on her face. Also, her son in law Jim (Katrina’s husband), daughter in law Julie (Ice’s wife) and son in law Ross (Victor’s husband). Her beloved grandchildren – Paris, Mistie, Jayme Lynn, Sophie, Ellie and Billy and her two great grandchildren, Ava and Aaliyah. Her baby brother Ben Benway and his wife Allie, Joe Benway and his wife Crystal, her brother in law Eric and his wife Trish, her great friend Tina along with many others who she loved and who loved her.
One of the last scriptures Pauline read out loud was Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen.” Pauline’s dedication and adherence to this scripture is an example we can all learn from.
Her services will be Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at Johnson’s Funeral Home at 26 Market St, North Berwick, Maine. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 to 5:15pm followed by service from 5:15 to 6:00pm.
