Norman (Hutch) Hutchins Obituary

Norman E “Hutch” Hutchins, 70 of Sanford Road, passed away peacefully April 3, 2022 in York Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born May 21, 1951 in Sanford, son of Elmer and Alice (Babineau) Hutchins and a graduate of Wells High School.   For many years he installed carpets for Sanford Flooring.

Hutch was an avid hunter with deep respect and appreciation for nature, particularly in the Northern Maine woods.  He was a proud member of the Big Bucks club.   Hutch was a lifetime member of the Wolves Club in Sanford and held the position of President for many years.  Hutch will be remembered for having a new joke each time you saw him, his willingness to help a friend and mostly, his quick wit that he never lost.

Hutch was pre-deceased by his parents, Elmer and Alice Hutchins and son, Christopher Hutchins.  Surviving are his son Brian Hutchins of Wells, daughter Dawn (Tom) Jarrell of Yazoo, MS; sister Kathy Sternfeld of Maryland and his 4 grandchildren, Elijah, Brittany, Zachary and Travis. And his long-time companion, Linda Gregoire and her children, his bonus children, David, Paula, Billy, Meg and Scott and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Hutch’s life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 beginning at 1pm at the Wolves Club, 40 High Street, Sanford, ME.  Interment at a later date in Oceanview Cemetery, Wells, ME.
