Nathan “Nate the Skate” Duford passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2023. Nathan was born to Harriette (Hat) and Ronald (Ron) Duford on April 5, 1971 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Nathan grew up in Wells, Maine, graduating from Wells High School where he excelled on Honor Roll, running track and cross country. In his senior year he placed 2nd in the State of Maine in the 3200-meter run. He then went on to the University of Maine, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Nathan worked at various Biotech companies over his career including Lonza Biologic, New England Biotech, and most recently at Bristol Myer Squibb at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts.
At an early age Nathan had a passion for playing guitar, he loved jamming with his cousins and friends to the tunes of B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Allman Bros. When he wasn’t playing music himself, he loved attending concerts such as “Lazy Lightening” in Portland with his sister Emily – followed by nachos (with no veggies) and a white Russian.
Nate had a sense of humor second to none. His impression of comedian Martin Short characters “Ed Grimley” and “Jackie Rogers Jr”, evoked gales of laughter, especially by his cousin, Scott, Shawn and Kimberly Duford. Suzanne, Dana, Christopher and Stephanie Southworth, Tenney and Krisyon Spiegel whom obviously had a similar sense of humor.
Nate was described as Smart, caring, and funny to all who knew him.
He is sorely missed by his parents Hat and Ron Duford, sister Amy Morrison, sister Emily Duford, Aunt Tenney Gavaza, Aunt Ruth and Uncle Warren Southworth, Aunt Jane and Uncle Bogie Mitchell, Uncle Roger and Aunt Duffy Duford, Uncle Gerald and Aunt Rudie Duford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
