Nan Jane (Norton) Mitton

Nan Jane Mitton, age 75, of York, ME and previously of Windham, ME, passed March 18, 2025 from the effects of dementia. 

She was born October 21, 1949, the daughter of George and Barbara (Dunn) Norton of South Portland.  Nan has one daughter, Melody Joyce Mitton, who lives in South Paris, Maine, a granddaughter, Tailor Jordon and a sister, Joyce Kennedy. She is predeceased by her husband, Gerald Mitton (who died the night before her passing) as well as her brother, Jeffrey Norton. 

Nan graduated from South Portland High School and Westbrook Junior College (now called New England College).  She worked many years as a Dental Hygienist. 

Nan loved her Lord Jesus Christ and children.  She volunteered with the Child Evangelism Fellowship Organization (CEF) and lead, with her husband and helpers, a Good News Club for almost nine years in which she shared with the children a game, refreshments, and a Bible lesson emphasizing Jesus as our Lord and Savior.   She was also a camp counselor for girls at Camp Good News in Livermore, Maine for 15 years. Every summer she looked forward to this special week. At home she enjoyed reading her Bible, keeping notes, reflecting and praying.

Funeral services for Nan and Gerald will be held, April 30, at 11AM at the York Bible Church, 61 York Street, York, ME 03909.  Gerald and Nan will be buried May 1st in the Riverside Cemetery in Yarmouth, ME.
