Michael R. Allan, 74, formerly of Berwick, passed away peacefully at his home in Brownfield April 22, 2024, with his family by his side after battling cancer.
He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 23, 1949, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Yerxa) Allan. Mike graduated from Berwick High School in 1967 before serving in the United States Army where he served on the front lines during the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, Mike began an apprenticeship at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he served 33 years before retiring.
Michael married Betsy Tozier and together raised two girls before her unexpected passing in 1992. He then married Cynthia Linscott in 1997. Several years ago, they retired to their camp in Brownfield, where he loved entertaining friends & family, fishing at the lake and was an avid fan of all the New England sports teams. His greatest love was his family and being the biggest supporter for all his grandchildren’s events.
Mike was a member of the American Legion, Charles S. Hatch Post #79 of Berwick. He enjoyed the comradery of his fellow veterans and participating in the parades and events.
Mike was pre-deceased by his first wife, Betsy Tozier Allan, and brother Charles Allan. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Cynthia (Linscott) Allan of Brownfield; 3 daughters, Alison Alonzi and husband Jason of Weymouth, MA, Chelsey Lane of Gonic, NH and Elissa Carter and her partner, Alex Sarris of South Windsor, CT; sister Trudi Cocarus of Rochester, 6 grandchildren, Mason, Landon, Cora, Aidric, Colin and Violet, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1 from 2pm to 5pm with an American Legion Service and Military Honors at 4pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 2 at 11:30am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 404 High Street, Somersworth, NH 03878. Burial service with Military Honors will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery on Cemetery Rd. Berwick, ME 03901.
