Mary A. (Norwood) Babcock

Mary A (Norwood) Babcock, 80, passed away peacefully, August 11, 2023, at her home in North Berwick, with her family by her side, after a period of failing health.

Mary was born February 16, 1943, in Biddeford, the daughter of Anna and Nelson Norwood.

Mary grew up in North Berwick, ME and attended North Berwick schools.

After school Mary worked for various companies, Converse, Hussey Seating, and retired from Pike Industries.

Mary married Nelson Babcock on June 10, 1967.

Mary was an avid knitter.  Whether jury duty, doctors’ appointments, or birthday parties you could find Mary knitting.  For a few years Mary would pick an item to focus on and knit throughout the year and donate to different organizations.  From slippers for the nursing home in town, hats and mittens for Coats for Kids, to baby hats for local hospital nurseries.  Mary had a green thumb, and you could see her tending to her flower gardens that she was so proud of.  Being a very independent and determined soul, she would not accept any help to mow her lawn or snow blow her driveway.

Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Nelson Babcock and sister Naomi (Norwood) Gibble.

Mary leaves behind sons Rodney (Marcy) Moore of Clovis, CA, James (Brenda) Moore of Wells, ME, Darryl (Beth) Moore, David (Cathy) Babcock of North Berwick.  Grandchildren Aaron (CJ) Moore of Clovis, CA, Natusha (John) Fate of Winslow, ME, Stephanie (Jeff) Cullen of Sanford, ME, Rebecca (Stewart) Thompson of Clovis, CA, Sarah (Jeremiah) Galvan of Fresno, CA, Kayla (Matt Hertig) James of Milton, NH, Gabrielle Moore of Scarborough, ME,  Lauren (Matt) Albrecht of Dayton, ME, Ryan (Mia) Babcock of Sanford, ME, Avery Moore of North Berwick, ME, ten great grandchildren and sister Barbara McClintick of Waldoboro, ME.

At Mary’s request, there will be no services.
