Marilyn R. (Dickinson) Crocker

Marilyn R. (Dickinson) Crocker, 76 of Wells, passed away peacefully in Gorham, ME, March 24, 2025.

She was born October 1, 1948 in South Portland, the daughter of Albra and Florence (Upton) Dickinson, graduating from South Portland High School then earning her Associates Degree from Beckert Junior College.  Marilyn enlisted in the Army for 2 years, before putting her family first, leaving to care for her ailing mother. 

In 1980, Marilyn married Dennis Crocker and eventually relocated to Wells, where they raised their son, DJ and became well known to the community.  While raising her son, Marilyn took on various jobs.  She and Denny opened the “Speedy Gourmet” take out service from their home as she loved to cook; she was able to fulfill her love of gardening at Joanne’s Gardens for a few years; her love of people as the receptionist at Avita in Wells, until the untimely death of her beloved husband when she took some time off.  Eventually, she ended up at York Oncology where her empathy and love for people could shine.

She and Denny were active members of the Trailblazers Family Club in Wells for many years; Marilyn was an amazing help for the fundraising, memberships and Bean Suppers.   Marilyn and her family attended Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick for many years where she was active in the choir.  They enjoyed their pool and all of the neighbors, opening their home to everyone, especially the children.  She always had her little side-kick, “Chachi” with her.

Marilyn’s love for people, friendship and volunteering will forever be remembered.

She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Dennis Crocker, Sr. in 2018, 2 brothers, Jerald and Albra Howard Dickinson, Jr.  She will be forever loved by her son, Dennis (DJ) Crocker, Jr and his wife Justyna of Sanford;  sisters, Anita Totman and Arlene Markley and brother, Robert Dickinson.

At Marilyn’s request, there will be no formal services.
