It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Marie (Sweeney) Gagne, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend to so many. Marie Sweeney Gagne 69, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at MGH following a brief illness.
Marie was born in Dover, NH on November 14, 1950 to the late Joseph and Bessie (Stackpole) Sweeney. She spent most of her childhood in South Berwick, ME moving to Rollinsford, NH at the age of 15. She attended Dover High and was a 1968 graduate. Throughout her life, Marie worked as a medical transcriptionist, a job she took pride in for over 30 years.
Marie had a great appreciation for the simple things in life, and took great pleasure in the times she spent with friends and family. She enjoyed her biweekly card night, creating beautiful handmade gifts, various travel destinations with friends, Mimi sleepovers with her granddaughter, long calls and summer visits with her grandsons, caring for her cat Blue, spending special time with her aunts, visits with her brother, the day to day bonding with her sister, and most importantly, her greatest joy and achievement in life was raising her loving son.
Marie is survived by her son Craig Gagne and his wife Jennifer of Farmington, her sister Betty Watson and her husband Douglas of Rollinsford, her brother Joseph Sweeney Jr. and his wife Beatrice of Dover, her pride and joys, her four grandchildren, Madilyn of Farmington, CJ, Matthew and Taylor of Fort Pierce, Florida, several nieces, cousins and many close friends.
A graveside service and burial will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 10:30 am at New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford, NH. Family and friends are respectfully invited and asked to attend wearing required face masks and while practicing social distancing.
