Lynn R. Day, age 74, lifelong resident of North Berwick, passed away peacefully June 21, 2020 at his home after a brief illness with his son, Jason by his side.
He was born in Rochester, NH, the only child born to Richard and Barbara (Kezar) Day. Lynn graduated North Berwick High School, Berwick Academy and attended UNH in Forestry. He left school early to pursue truck driving, working for several area companies, including Newhall’s, Littlefield’s, S.D. Warren then starting his own company, Lynn Day Gravel and Aggregate. He loved his big rigs and traveling the country and also loved the Maine woods and logging.
Lynn enjoyed horses, fishing and dogs, especially his grand-dog, Hannah. His entire life he collected model trains, which he had an extensive collection of. For 31 years, he volunteered for the William Hill Engine Company, retiring as the Fire Chief. He had a wonderful group of friends that he enjoyed his morning coffee break with, sharing stories of past adventures of town happenings and the trucking business.
Lynn was pre-deceased by his parents and daughter-in-law, Autumn (Sanborn) Day. Surviving are his only son, Jason Day of Berwick, the mother of his son, Kimberly (Bither) Parker of North Berwick; 3 grandsons, Austin, Aidan and Jared Day all of Berwick.
Viewing will be held Friday, June 26 from 4pm to 7 pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick. Covid-19 protocols will be followed. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 29 at 2pm at the Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
