Louis "Bill" Mayo Obituary

Louis A. “Bill” Mayo, 76, formerly of Wells, passed away December 8, 2023 at
Summer Commons, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born June 1, 1947 in Milo, ME, the son of Albert and Sadie (Boyd) Mayo. He
earned his GED from Marshwood High School before serving his country in the U.S.
Army. Bill worked at Davidson Rubber his whole career as a machinist where he
retired but then he decided to go back to work for several more years at Noble High
School in the maintenance department.
Bill was an avid Yankees fan; enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending as much time he could on the lake.
For four years, he was fortunate to live on the lake with his daughter, Tina and her husband Ken
Newton. Bill and his wife, Rita enjoyed traveling, making wonderful memories on the cruise they took
with Ken and Tina to Alaska. Bill also enjoyed the cruise to Bermuda with family. He adored his family
and watching the grandchildren in all their sporting events.
The family would like to thank Summer Commons staff for their kindness during Bill’s stay. He was the
first memory care patient at the facility and their compassion was outstanding. A huge thanks also goes
to Miranda Quint for her dedication to caring for her grampa.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Fortier) Mayo in 2013. Surviving is his daughter Tina Newton
and husband, Kenneth of Lebanon; son Louis Mayo, Jr and wife Kristina of Lyman; several brothers and
sisters; 7 grandchildren, Travis Quint and companion Jessica Antoine, Miranda Quint and fiancé Dylan
Zenga, Nicole Newton, Mike Newton, Josh Newton and companion Jasmyn Watt, Devyn and Ethan Mayo;
2 great grandchildren, Peyton and Lilliana Zenga and baby Blakley will be arriving in February.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale,
ME. Arrangements are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick.
