Lawrence L. Blake

Lawrence L. “Larry” Blake, 87, passed away peacefully at his summer home July 26, 2025, with his family by his side.

He was born May 16, 1938, in Lee, ME, the son of Orland and Marion (Brown) Blake.  Lawrence graduated Lee Academy where he loved baseball and was voted “best dancer”.   He married his dancing partner and love of his life, Kendra Goodwin in 1962 then proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years, then to the reserves for 22 years, retiring in 1984.  After his military service, Lawrence made a 37-year career at General Electric in Dover, NH in Security, retiring early at the age of 55. 

He and Kendra raised their 3 children in North Berwick, ME.  Lawrence loved golfing, boating, dancing and traveling extensively.  They became snowbirds in 1993, settling in Homosassa, FL and summering with family in Maine. 

Lawrence loved the Lord and was a true American Patriot who loved his country.  Firstly, he adored his family.  Many family memories were made over the years.    He will be remembered for the amazing husband, dad, grampa, grampa with the cane and Uncle Lawncy that he was, as well as an amazing friend.  His signature smile and kind words for everyone made him known to have never met a stranger.   He will be deeply missed by so many.

Lawrence was pre-deceased by his siblings, Robert Blake, Dorothy Linscott and Charlene Scribner; son Bill Rice and  his beloved grandson, Brandon Currie.  Surviving is his wife and dancing partner of 63 years, Kendra (Goodwin) Blake of Homosassa, FL; 2 daughters, Kathleen (Blake) Pye and her husband Gordon of Phippsburg, ME; Priscilla (Rice) Leach and husband Mark, whom he loved like his own son, of Homosassa, FL, sister-in-law, Barbara Blake Cameron of Shapleigh, ME;suster-in-law Elaine Baker and husband Ed of Lebanon; brother-in-law Robert Goodwin and wife Susan of Brewer, ME;  beloved grandchildren, Summer (Leach) Jolly and husband Samson, Tyler Leach and wife Tiffany, Kendra Currie, Carianne Watson, (Brandon’s fiancé) Charles Pye, Blake (Pye) Toothaker, Brianna Pye, several great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews who so lovingly referred to him as ‘Uncle Lawncy’.

An hour of visitation will be held Tuesday, August 5, from 11am to 12pm immediately followed by a memorial service at 12pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME. Interment in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, ME at a later date.
