Kenneth C. Mayberry, 87, longtime resident of Berwick, and current resident of Pinnacle Health Care in North Berwick, went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2023.
He and his twin brother, Milton were born March 8, 1936 in Lewiston, ME, the sons of Kenneth and Theo (Purington) Mayberry. For many years he worked at local shoe shops and retired from a leather finishing shop in Portsmouth, NH.
Lovingly known as “Chucka” or “Uncle Chucka”, he loved fishing and hunting but especially just watching the deer. He enjoyed long walks in the woods and visiting the dairy farm at UNH every weekend with his nieces and trips to the horse farm. The cows were his favorite and seemed to remember him every time he visited.
Chucka had a green thumb and took great pride in his tomato gardens and raising over 300 chickens at one point. He shared his bounty with family and friends. Chucka was so helpful on the family farm with all the chores with the animals, gardening, shoveling and whatever needed to be done.
Surviving is his twin brother, Milton Mayberry and his wife Charlotte of Berwick; 7 nieces and nephews who were like his own children, Randall Mayberry of Sun City, AZ; Crystal Dixon and husband Richard of Lebanon, Bonnie Mayberry and Kimberly Mayberry of Berwick, Candace Mayberry of Cornish, Eric Mayberry of South Berwick, Scott Mayberry and wife Tina of Woodville, NH as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held Friday November 3, 2023 from 11am to 1pm followed by funeral services at 1pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, ME. Condolences may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com
