Kenneth A. Keeping, 83 of Wells, Maine passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
He was born in Holyoke, MA on August 4, 1937 to Paul and Doris (McAuley) Keeping and grew up in Williamstown, MA, spending his summers in Wells.
Ken enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and met his wife Lola at his first duty station in Sanford, FL. First and foremost he loved his family. He enjoyed his 23 years of service, mostly flying as an aircrew member and traveling with his family across the world. One of his proudest moments was when he achieved the rank of “Chief" in the Navy.
He loved to hunt and fish and spent many hours in the woods and on the water.
He was a scuba diver and instructor. He also coached & umpired Little League for many years.
Ken and his wife spent many years traveling in their RV to visit family and friends and attending reunions with his old shipmates.
They attended numerous ballgames to cheer on the grandkids throughout the US, Canada and Australia.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Del, Skip & Diana.
Surviving are his wife Lola and their children Ken Jr, Steven (Simone), Randy (Patty), and Karen...grandchildren, Zachary, Kassidy, Benjamin, Kyle & Kristopher .
Brothers-in-law George (Carol) and Charles Mullins along with many nieces and nephews.
An hour of visitation will be held Thursday from 11am to 12pm with a funeral at 12pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME Interment with military honors to follow in Oceanview Cemetery, Wells, ME.
