Joseph Raymond Zagrosky

Joseph Raymond Zagrosky, 68 of South Berwick, passed away April 15, 2020 at the Scarborough Veterans Home from the COVID-19 virus and other complications.

Joe was born in Bethesda, MD, September 10, 1951, the oldest of 9 children born to Peter and Delores (Bylinsky) Zagrosky.  After high school, Joe attended one year of Tech School before proudly serving 10 years in the US Air Force; stationed in Japan as a Radio Relay Specialist.  His assignments included Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, South Korea and Thailand.

He was stationed in Germany as an Integrated Avionic Attack Technician; the only technician at that time to become engine run and taxi qualified for the F-15 fighter jet.  He was also stationed at Tinker AFB and Langley AFB. After serving, he attended Penn State, earning his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.   Joe retired as a Supervisor of a Nuclear section at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. 

Joe enjoyed building computers from scratch, reading and photography.  He loved to travel with Bill and Marilyn Cooke, hiking, cooking and listening to all kinds of music, especially country.  He and his wife attended Eliot Baptist Church. 

Joe is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Deborah (Barlow) Zagrosky of South Berwick, ME, as well as 3 brothers and 4 sisters. 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Eliot Baptist Church, Route 236, Eliot, ME.  Date will be announced.  Friends who wish may contribute to South Berwick Memorial Post 5744 VFW, P.O. Box 58, North Berwick, ME 03906.
