John B. Graves

John B. Graves, 83, of North Berwick Road passed away November 21, 2019 at St. Andre’s in Biddeford surrounded by his family.

He was born May 23, 1936 in Lynn, MA, the son of Frank and Ella (Shepard) Graves, Sr.  John graduated Wells High School before beginning his 20-year military career, first in the U. S. Army then the U.S. Air Force.  In 1956 John married Juanita Johnson. They were stationed all over the world before settling in Wells where John worked for the U.S. Post Office as Postman for 10 years then on to the Maine Turnpike Authority as a toll collector.  He stayed active throughout his retirement with playing cards, volunteering at the Ogunquit Playhouse; Wells Ogunquit Senior Center and past president of the Mill Pond Condos.

He was predeceased by his wife, Juanita Graves in 2001 and daughter Tammy Tebbetts in 2008 and his companion Nicki Wagner.  Surviving are his son Jeff Graves and his wife Patricia of Wells; a sister, Shirley Fearon of West Gardiner; 8 grandchildren, January and John Tebbetts, Alexis Jones, Michael Spinney, Sonya Spencer, Dennis McLatchy, Jr., Andrew and Michael McLatchy; and many great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 24th from 2pm to 4pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, where a funeral will be held Monday at 10am followed by interment in Oceanview Cemetery, Wells with Military Honors.  Friends who wish may contribute to the Wells Ogunquit Senior Center, P.O.
