James D. Hayes, 73, of East Wakefield, formerly of Wells, ME passed away March 3, 2019.
Jim was born January 20, 1946, son of Walter and Myrtle (Tufts) Hayes and served in the U. S. Army, stationed in Germany. After returning home, Jim was a truck driver and Heavy Equipment operator for DOT, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Ossipee Aggregates. He was a faithful employee, no matter where he worked. He attended church at the New Chance Church of the Nazarene in Springvale, ME.
Jim was a very talented woodworker and artist. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying nature, camping, hiking, fishing and long rides on his Gold Wing Motorcycle. His greatest love was his family, cherishing every moment spent with them. Jim adored his beloved dogs, Muffy and Gabriel who were like family.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Wanda Hayes of Sanford; 2 sisters, Jolene Hayes and Jean Welch; brother Patrick Hayes, all of Wells, ME, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
An hour of visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17 from 4pm to 5 pm, immediately followed by a memorial service at 5pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME. Spring interment in Pinehill Cemetery, Wells. Friends who wish may contribute to the Sanford Vets Center, 628 Main Street, Springvale, ME 04083.
