On September 14, 2021, we all lost a wonderful man who touched many lives.
Ira was 95 when he passed and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Ira enjoyed being outdoors feeding his birds and making memories mowing the lawn with his tractor. If he wasn’t with his family and friends or outside, he would venture off to Sanford Airport to watch the planes and talk with some long-time friends. He also enjoyed seeing so many celebrities that came in, including George Bush, who he had the chance to meet. He also took plane rides from the airport.
If he wasn’t at the airport, you could find him at Skydive New England in Lebanon, Maine where Ira did some sky dive jumps. Ira enjoyed spending time with the crew, jumpers, and the families and friends that watched. Ira also could be found at Sanford Mainers baseball games. He liked adventure and took in every detail of his day and enjoyed every day. He could be found in many places taking in the scenery like, Wells beach and Kennebunk beach.
Ira was a first-class Navy Seaman SVB6-USNR. He received a World War 2 Victory Medal and American Area Medal. NTS Sampson N.Y. and USS H.J. Ellison. Ira was also a member of the Maine Masonry, Preble Lodge NO 0143 in Sanford, Maine.
At this time there will be no public services.
