Helen (Trafton) Allen

Helen Trafton Allen, 82, of York Beach, Maine, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 20, 2020. She passed away in the loving arms of her husband of 62 years, Richard K. Allen.

Born in Cobleskill, NY, she was the youngest of 8 children to Freeman Benjamin Trafton and Mary Florence Weeks Trafton.   Helen and Richard raised three children, Barbara, Brenda and Mark in Dorloo, NY and then were blessed with 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

She started her career as a Switchboard Operator for Bell Telephone completing her career as a successful Personnel Director for Burton Enterprises. Helen retired in York Beach, Maine where she enjoyed walking the beach, spending countless hours in her beautiful flower gardens and was an active member of Maine Obsolete Automobile League.

She was predeceased by her parents, siblings and grandsons, Jonathan Purcell in 1988 at the age of 3 and Jason Purcell in 2018 at the age of 38.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Richard K. Allen, children Barbara (Stephen) Purcell,  Brenda (Doug) Mason, Mark (Jessica) Allen, grandchildren Rachel (Sean) Donnelly, Nathan (Emily) Purcell, Sarah Purcell, Matthew (Shantel) Mason, Malarie Mason, Lindsey (Shelby) Miles, Amanda (Toby) Williams, Blake Allen, greatgrandchildren Sage Purcell, Kaitlin & Shannon Donnelly, Jesse, Finley & Elias Purcell, Aliza Mason, Kileigh & Rilyn Mason, Christian, Jaxin & Shaylee Hignight, Shelby Jean Miles & Henry Brower and Nash & Neely Williams.
