Gretchen Gosselin

After a courageous battle against breast cancer, Gretchen (Lamson) Gosselin, 54, of North Berwick, ME passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2025, with her family by her side.

She was born on December 21, 1970, in Ashland, NH, the youngest daughter of Rev. Robert and Emilie (Rose) Lamson. During her childhood, Gretchen enjoyed Saturday morning cartoons, movies, penny candy, her paper route, riding bikes, playing Barbies with her sisters, visiting the Harkness’s farm each summer, swimming in Aunt Margaret and Uncle Dave’s pool, and spending two weeks each year at Camp Sentinel in the foothills of Ossipee Mountain learning how to swim, and about the happiness that s’mores bring to a campfire.

After graduating from Portsmouth High School, Gretchen began her career as a chef at the Sheraton Hotel, where she worked for thirty years. During this time, she met her beloved husband with whom she embarked on a thirty-five-year journey of love, laughter, and family. Their three children grew up with unwavering support for each and for their hobbies which included singing, theatre, drawing, writing, and firefighting. In recent years, many of her happiest moments were spent picking berries around the house or baking cookies with her grandson.   Gretchen loved to travel and being active. She spent hours biking at home and texting a screen shot of her time to family members when she finished her ride.  She enjoyed working out at Planet Fitness and loved the outdoors.  She loved reading so much that she carried her Kindle with her everywhere.  Gretchen was an expert gardener who was often outside during the summer months growing a variety of vegetables that she generously shared with others and incorporated into the evening meal. Friends and family regularly benefited from Gretchen’s culinary skills and her baked goods were legendary not only for their yumminess, but for how they inspired togetherness.  A true culinarian, Gretchen wrote down her recipes to share with her family who plan to publish a cookbook one day.   She also took immense pride in her flower gardens and her rose bushes, which she proudly displayed on a large trellis in the front yard. 

Gretchen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  She approached each day with kindness, perseverance, and steadiness, regardless of obstacles that came and inspired us all. Her family meant everything to her, and she leaves a legacy of love for us to carry in our hearts.

She was predeceased by her mother, Emilie (Rose) Lamson.  Surviving are her father, Rev. Robert Lamson, her husband, Brian Gosselin of North Berwick; son Joshua Gosselin and his partner Diamound Pizzi of North Berwick; twin daughters, Hannah Gosselin and her partner Christian Morin of North Berwick; and Elizabeth Rogers and her husband Brent of Sanford; sisters Rachel O’Sullivan and her fiancé Jason Elrod of Surfside Beach, SC; Catherine Ciotti and husband Jeremy of Portsmouth, NH; Karen Oxholm and husband Steven of Portsmouth, NH; mother-in-law Linda Knight and her partner, Roger Leland of North Berwick; brothers-in-law, Rex Gosselin and wife, Michelle; David Gosselin and wife Janet Ferrin of Cherryfield, ME, numerous nieces and nephews,  and her pride and joy grandson, Andy Gosselin of Sanford.

A memorial service will be held on August 10th at 1:00pm at the First Congregational Church of North Berwick, 15 High Street, North Berwick, ME.  Free parking is available behind the church and at the nearby school.
