Geraldine (Gerry) Doore Eliades passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2022, surrounded by family. She was 79. Gerry was born in Bath, Maine and spent the first 4 years of her life as an only child, doted on by her mother and grandmother while her father was away at war. She was the proud daughter of a military family that spent time at various locations including Camp Lejeune, NC and Panama (where she acquired a Spanish accent), before settling in Kittery, ME.
Gerry spent many years working in the restaurant business including the iconic Yoken’s Restaurant and the Dinnerhorn Restaurant, where she met her husband, Alex. In 1980, Gerry & Alex opened Alexander’s Italian Restaurant in Rollinsofrd, NH, where both employees and customers were like family. Over 27 years, many joyous family celebrations and holidays were spent there until their retirement and sale of the restaurant in 2007.
Gerry was a lifelong knitter, a hobby she learned from and shared with her grandmother, an avid reader, and she loved to travel, with memorable trips to Italy and Spain as well as annual trips to the Cayman Islands where she made some lifelong friendships. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family & friends, lunches at her favorite restaurants and going to the movies.
Gerry is pre-deceased by her parents, George & Avis Doore and her brother, Michael Doore. She is survived by her husband, Alex, son, Dale Engle, daughter, Dawn Belanger and her husband, Andy Moffett, son-in-law Tom Belanger, sister, Linda Jameson and husband, Barry, brother, Carl Doore and wife, Cheryl, sister, Pam Russel and partner, Alan Richard, 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gerry was generous, loved a good laugh, and made friends wherever she went. She will be sorely missed by her family & friends.
A private, Celebration of Life will be held in November. To honor Gerry, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
