Gerald Thomas Schulmaier - 90
Jerry was born at Wentworth Douglas Hospital to Henry Raymond Schulmaier SR & Alice Irene Schulmaier (Wenworth) on May 14, 1933– Died unexpectedly on February 20, 2024.
After graduating from North Berwick High School in 1952, he went on to enlist in the United States Army, serving in Germany for several years. After his service time, he returned to the family farm in North Berwick where he performed all daily chores and task around the farm; starting before the sun was up and ending after it had gone down, each and every day.
In 1986, the Backache Farm stopped milk production. After that, Jerry had several jobs. Delivering newspapers for Fosters Daily Democrat. Working at Hussey Seating in the Wood shop for several years. After retiring from Hussey Seating, he worked at the North Berwick Transfer Station, mostly handing out candy to kids and mild bones to the dogs.
Jerry was a member of the VFW & The Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 87 of North Berwick.
He is predeceased by his parents, Henry Schulmaier Sr & wife Alice Wentworth Schulmaier, his brother Henry Schulmaier, Jr. . He is survived by his sister Eleanor Paula Phinney (95), his niece Kate A. Phinney Lord, and nephew Jay Michael Phinney
Visiting hours will be held Monday, February 26 from 3pm to 6pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick. A funeral service will be held Tuesday February 27 at 10 am at the Johnson Funeral Home with an American legion service. Spring interment in Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, ME.
