Gerald Phillip Mitton, age 82, of York, ME, and previously of Windham, ME, passed away Marth 17th 2025 of natural causes, one day prior to his beloved wife Nan Jane Mitton’s passing.
Gerald was born September 30, 1942 in Dexter, ME, the son of Garold and Phyllis (Ford) Mitton. He graduated from North Yarmouth Academy, Yarmouth, and the University of Maine, Orono, and was an electrical engineer. He enjoyed carpentry, Scripture reading, listening to classical and religious music, sailing, and going on long walks. He was a loving, selfless, God-supported caregiver for Nan for many of these last few years.
Gerald was a devout Christian and cared deeply for being a witness to children. He, with Nan, lead an afterschool Good News Club of the Child Evangelism Fellowship, Portland, ME, for almost nine years, sharing their faith with local school children.
His wife, Nan Jane, joined Gerald in Heaven the day after his passing. He is survived by his daughter, Melody Joyce Mitton and granddaughter, Tailor Elizabeth Jordan; two sisters, Judy Metzger and Joy Davis.
Funeral services will be held April 30, 2025 at 11am at the York Bible Church, 61 York Street, York, ME 03909. Burial of Gerald and Nan will be the following day at noon on May 1, 2025 in the Riverside Cemetery in Yarmouth, ME.
