George R. Farnsworth

George R. Farnsworth, 71, of Hubbard Road, Lebanon, ME passed away peacefully at his home, January 6, 2026, with his family by his side.

He was born November 15, 1954, in Sanford, ME, son of Douglas and Shirley (Pugh) Farnsworth, raised in North Berwick and attending Noble schools.

George was a self-made man.  He worked for himself welding, farming and logging locally. George was willing to help anyone in need.  Growing up on Oakwoods Road in town, he was raised to help his neighbors.  He hunted in his back yard and enjoyed fishing down the road; hobbies he passed down to his own kids and grandkids. George enjoyed his grandkids waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing at the camp at Big Dan Hole Pond in Ossipee and Lovell Lake, NH.  Everyone he knew will remember him for his love of aggravating and razzing them for one thing or another.  He kept that wit about him, even in the hospital.

George was predeceased by his parents; 3 sisters, Judy Coyne, Joyce Spencer, and Rosemary Menter; surviving are his wife Bonnie (Lane) Farnsworth of Lebanon; 2 sons, Eric Meeks and wife Melisa of Farmington, NH, Steven Shaw of North Berwick; daughter Stacey Phillbrook and husband Mike of Rochester, NH; brother Doug Farnsworth and wife Gail of Sanford; 6 grandchildren, Jacob Meeks, Michael Phillbrook, Tiernan Meeks, Jenna Phillbrook, Maison Shaw-Mathews, Jazlyn Meeks and great-grandson, Grayson Meeks, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be held Monday, January 19 from 5pm to 7pm at George’s home, Hubbard Road, Lebanon, ME.  A Celebration of Life will be held June 20th at 2pm at 424 Old Dover Road, Rochester, NH.03867
