Fred Leslie Marcou Jr., 67, of Lebanon, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born on October 24, 1958, in Rochester, New Hampshire, to Charlotte May (Bellen) Marcou and Fred Leslie Marcou Sr.
Fred was a man known for his grit, humor, and deep love for his family. A lifelong mechanic, he had an unmatched ability to listen to an engine and understand exactly what it needed. He took great pride in his work, spending countless years under the hood, solving problems that others couldn’t. To Fred, being a mechanic wasn’t just a job-it was who he was.
Outside of work, Fred enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time fishing and enjoying a cold beer. Some of his most cherished moments were spent with his grandsons Dalton, Devin, and Zachary-whether it was teaching them about cars, working side by side in the garage, or spending time together fishing. Those times meant everything to him and created memories that will live on through them.
Fred was sarcastic, quick-witted, and a proud smart ass- he kind of man who showed his love through teasing and humor. He was stubborn as all hell, but behind that was a man who loved fiercely and stood by his family no matter what. Whether he was fixing something, telling stories, or making people laugh, Fred left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene (Corliss) Marcou; his children, daughter Sherry Lynn (Marcou) Wiggins and her husband Craig Wiggins, and son Fred Leslie Marcou III and his wife Jessica (Denbow) Marcou.
He is also survived by his siblings, Fredricka (Marcou) Kingsbury, Theresa (Marcou) Tetu, Marylou Marcou, and Dale Marcou.
Fred was a proud grandfather to Kayla Marcou-Rapoza and her husband Ryan, Dalton Marcou, Kevin Godin Jr. and his wife Cassidy, Devin Marcou and his wife Colleen, Kyle Godin, Emileigh Marcou, Deanna Marcou, Connor Marcou, Dylan Wiggins, Logan Marcou, and Zachary Wiggins.
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Weston, Micaiah, Isabella, Kenlie, Amenadiel, Zane, Serenity, and London, with Emerson and Easton arriving soon.
Fred was predeceased by his father, Fred Leslie Marcou Sr., and his siblings Dwight Marcou Sr., Jeff Marcou Sr., Beverley (Marcou) Duquette, Tammy (Marcou) Smith, Dwayne Marcou, Sue (Marcou) Chase, and Gloria (Marcou) Sanborn.
Fred will be remembered as a hardworking man with a big heart, a sharp tongue, and a sense of humor that could catch you off guard. Whether in the garage or surrounded by family, he lived life his own way-and those who knew him will never forget it.
