Frances Sesin Obituary

Frances Alma Cole Sesin, 90, a life-long resident of North Berwick, Maine, transitioned to her Heavenly home on March 25, 2021, after a brief illness.  Frances was born in Bucksport, Maine, the daughter of late Manley W. Cole and Effie R. Gray Cole.  Her family, which included her parents and 6 siblings, moved to North Berwick when she was 11, where she attended the local school and graduated valedictorian from North Berwick High School in 1949.

Frances met a handsome Navy man from Dover, NH, named Albert J. Sesin, Sr and they were married January 1, 1953.  Frances and Al enjoyed 62 years of marriage, until God called Al home in February 2015.  Frances was a devoted wife and mother and was known as “Sito” to all her 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.  A woman of strong faith, Frances assisted her father, Manley Cole, who was founder and pastor of Bethel Christian Church in her hometown of North Berwick. In the early years of Bethel, she played piano and was involved in youth ministry.  Frances, along with her husband, was an original member of the Bethel Christian Society formed in 1961.  She served alongside her Dad as the Vice President and clerk.  For many years she taught the adult Sunday School class and remained a charter member of Bethel all her life.

From a young age, Frances had a passion for poetry, and penned well over one hundred poems throughout her lifetime.  Her children remember many times while attending meetings at Bethel, she would take pen and paper from her purse and begin writing.  Often, before that service ended, she would stand and read the poem God inspired her to write.  These poems were a blessing to everyone who heard them.  Frances and her children were in the process of gathering them for publication as a keepsake for her grandchildren.

Frances and her sister, Selena Cole Post, were known for their Elm Street “Barn Sale” which they tended daily and sold about everything you can imagine.  Frances had a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked 15+ years at the North Berwick Nursing Home until she and her husband retired to Port St Lucie, FL and remained “snowbirds” for 35+ years.

Frances is survived by her son, Al Sesin, Jr., and wife, April Sesin; Al’s children: Lisa Bataran, Adam Joel Sesin, and Laura Crate; her daughter, Anne Osgood, and husband, Harry Osgood, and sons: Jason Osgood, Nathan Osgood, and Mathew Osgood; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; She is also survived by her sister, Dorris Cole Emery; and many nieces and nephews.  Frances was predeceased by her husband, Al Sesin, Sr.; a granddaughter, Allison Sesin Williams; and four brothers: Freeman, Tom, Bob and Donny and a sister, Selena Cole Post.

A Private Memorial Service, with family and close friends, will be held at Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick, Maine on June 3, 2021 at 10AM.  A reception meal will follow downstairs in the church fellowship hall.  Frances will be buried beside her husband at the Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick, Maine.  This Memorial Service is under the care and supervision of Johnson’s Funeral Home in North Berwick, Maine.
