02/26/1936- 04/18/2020
Fay was the first born to Kenneth Trafton Ramsdell and Doris Evelyn (Wentworth) Ramsdell on Feb 26, 1936, at the South Berwick Hospital, Main St., South Berwick, Maine. She was the oldest of 5 children. She grew up in North Berwick and attended schools there. In 1953, she met Charles Lowell Neal and January 9, 1954, they were married. January 9, 2020, they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Together, they raised 2 girls, Lucinda Jo (Neal) Nadeau and Kandis Doricia (Neal) Keith, in South Berwick, Maine. In 2007, they moved to Paradise Park, Rochester, NH and would spend 12 years together there, until Fay became ill and needed to go live with her oldest daughter, in South Berwick, Maine.
She will be lovingly remembered for her love of shopping, sometimes, hours on end in the retail stores. She loved jewelry, porcelain dolls, Indian pictures, but, most of all she loved “her dogs”, Bailey, Autumn, Bella and Brutus! They put a smile on her face every day. Her knack for wrapping Christmas presents with scotch tape and no one able to get into them is always a favorite topic of discussion during the holidays. Every Friday she would go to the hair dresser, have her hair done in an updo, then off to shopping and out to eat. She had a special friendship with Idell Bostrom and together they sewed many quilts, drank tea and discussed life in general. In her later years, she was content to see the Grandkids and Great grandkids enjoying their childhood, telling her stories about their day and then becoming adults themselves, accomplishing their life goals. She always worried about everyone. Her generosity, compassion and LOVE will never be forgotten. We will sorely miss Little Nana and her sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Lowell Neal, Rochester, NH, her oldest daughter, Lucinda Jo Nadeau and husband Charles Nadeau, South Berwick, Maine, her youngest daughter, Kandis Doricia Keith and her husband, Michael Keith, California, and her youngest brother, Floyd Ramsdell with his wife, RuthAnn of Rochester, NH. Grandkids include Desiree N Lambert, with her significant other, CJ Geering, Portsmouth, NH, Wayne C Wellwood with his significant other Shelby Soulia, South Berwick, Maine, and Bryanne M Horner with husband Chace Horner, South Berwick, Maine. Nathaniel Merchant with wife, Catherine, Maine. Elijah Merchant, N.H. Great Grand Kids include Kaiden and Liam Horner, South Berwick, Maine and Abel and Alissa Wellwood, South Berwick, Maine. Iris Merchant, Maine and Eleah, Azarriah and Phoenix Merchant, N.H. She has many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and would lend an ear to those who needed it, especially, after losing one of their own parents.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Carol Dyer, her brother, Richard Ramsdell and her sister, Donna Knicely.
