Eleanor M. Pearsall, 94, of Goodwin Road, passed away December 7, 2021 of COVID-19 at Pinnacle Healthcare in North Berwick,
She was the daughter of Harry and Estella (Kramer) Goodwin, born April 2, 1927 in the same house she resided in for 94 years. Eleanor graduated from #4 Eliot Elementary one room school house in 1940 in the last class to graduate before its closing. She graduated from Eliot High School in 1944 and went on to graduate from Lynn Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked as an RN at Portsmouth and York Hospitals and always ready to do home care for neighbors as needed.
She married her high school classmate David T. Pearsall and they took over ownership of her father’s automobile business branching out as East Eliot Garage dealership for Case and Kubota tractors. Eleanor was honored by the Case Co. for being the only female parts person in New England. She and Dave won many trips and trophies for their sales. Their special loving marriage lasted 53 years until Dave’s death in 2000.
She and Dave were active members of the Good Sam Chickadee Chapter RV Club of which she was past president. Eleanor loved animals and was a foster home for animals in need of care; monkeys, skunks, raccoons and many others. She was a matron for the Eliot and Kittery Police departments for 28 years and volunteered at the Portsmouth Hospital for 13 years. She was honored to be selected as Hospital Volunteer of the year in 2005 and was given the Humanitarian award. Retiring at her favorite past times were the completion of scrapbooking 12 volumes of Eliot History and doing genealogy on the Goodwin Family. She attended Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick.
She is survived by her daughter Bonniebelle Bate and husband Laurence of Eliot;2 sons David N. Pearsall of CT, and Terry Pearsall of Eliot. Her greatest joy in life was watching the growth and accomplishments of 11 grandchildren, Ben (Kim), Melinda (Christopher), Irahn, Judd (Christy) David O. (Sylvia) Teresa (Shannon), Melanie, Sarah, Brian (Kamilah) Tiffany and Amanda and 17 great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Kyle, Clair, Emily, Brody, Zackery, Amelia, Olivia, Allison, Callie, Colby, Savannah, Tanner, Donovan, Ethan, Ava and Robert; all of whom she loved dearly. Eleanor was always available to teach them cooking or how to win at Canasta and Parcheesi.
An hour of visitation will be held Saturday, December 11th from 10am to 11am immediately followed by a funeral at 11am at the Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, ME.
