Douglas Thompson Obituary

Douglas Clyde Thompson June 3, 1940 – March 18, 2026

Douglas (Dougie) Clyde Thompson, 85, of North Berwick, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. Born on June 3, 1940, and raised in North Berwick, he was a graduate of North Berwick High School. Over the years, he also made homes in Lubec, Maine, and Holderness, New Hampshire, gaining many life-long friendships wherever his journey took him.

Doug was a proud Freemason for 62 years. He began his Masonic journey at Yorkshire Lodge and, through decades of dedicated involvement, advanced into the Scottish Rite, an achievement that held deep personal meaning for him.

He spent his best years doing what he loved most: trapping, hunting, fishing, and sharing time with his loving family and closest friends. He built strong connections throughout his life and was well‑liked by many.

Doug is survived by the mother of his children, Judith Cheney. He was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 30 years, Geraldine Thompson (Brown), and by his sister, Nancy Thompson.

He leaves behind his children: Paul Thompson and husband Michael of Milton, NH; Steven Thompson and companion Robin of North Berwick, ME; Teresa Brooks and her late husband Gregory Brooks of North Berwick, ME; Sherry Royal and husband Kevin Royal of North Berwick, ME; and Eric Thompson of Grimesland, NC. Stepchildren: Cathy Dupuis and husband David Dupuis of Holderness, NH; Lisa Rose and husband Jim Rose of North Berwick, ME; Rebecca Wilcox of Downeast ME; and David Wilcox of Downeast ME. Thirteen Grandchildren and Fifteen Great-Grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those closest to him.
