Doris M. Morgridge, 94, passed away peacefully at her home January 8, 2024.
She was born in Dover, NH August 18, 1929, the daughter of Hubert and Blanche (Drapeau) Van de Meulebroecke. Doris was a graduate of Dover High School then received her Associates Degree from McIntosh College in Dover, NH. For several years, she was the secretary at the South Berwick Town Hall before her working for Ham Insurance Agency in South Berwick for over 40 years.
In 1991, she and her husband Edwin moved to Wells beach. Doris loved the beach, knitting and was a whiz at her seek-a-word puzzles. She was a social butterfly enjoying drinks and lunch at Billy’s Chowder House a few days a week and attending functions at the Trailblazers Club. She also loved spending time with her friends at the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center for the past 14 years where she volunteered in several different roles.
Doris was pre-deceased by her husband of 60 years, Edwin Morgridge; 2 sons, Rodney and Larry Morgridge and brother Rene Van de Meulebroecke. Surviving are her son, David Morgridge and wife Karen of Searsmont, ME; brother Roger Van de Meulebroecke and wife Anna of Gainsville, VA; sister-in-law Connie Van de Meulebroecke of Ocean City, MD; 5 grandchildren Jennifer Batchelder and husband Justin of Wells, Phaedra Morgridge and Renee Morgridge and fiancé Jimmy Martin of Virginia Beach, VA, Carley Emerson and husband Patrick of Wells, Paige Morgridge of Troy, ME as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 18 at 10am at St. Charles Cemetery, Old Rochester Road, Dover, NH followed by a celebration of life at the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center, 300 Post Road, Wells, ME. Memorial donations may be made to the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center, P.O. Box 987, Wells, ME 04090.
