Donna DeVita Obituary

Donna J. DeVita, 75, of Sanford Road, passed away September 22,2020 at her home after a period of failing health.

She was born in Manchester, NH, March 21, 1945, the daughter of Robert and Marjorie (Lindahl) Mitchell.  Donna was a graduate of Massapequa High School in Massapequa Long Island, NY.  July 9, 1967, Donna married the love of her life, Daniel DeVita and followed him to Germany for his tour in the U.S. Army.

They raised their family in Long Island, NY where she was very active in her children’s lives; volunteering in school and church functions and never missed any of their sporting events or dance recitals.  Donna was a hairdresser for several years after becoming a Special Education technician in Long Island.  She also worked for a time in the cafeteria of SUNY Delhi in up-state New York.  In 1998, she and her husband moved to Maine and especially enjoyed their summer cottage on Route 1 in Wells.  Donna enjoyed oil painting, crocheting and also buying and selling antiques.

Donna was the most loving and generous soul who was strong, both physically and mentally.  Her vibrance and kindness will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was pre-deceased by her parents and sister, Linda Bregy.  Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Daniel M. DeVita of Wells; son Dennis J. DeVita and wife Lisa of Berwick, ME; daughter, Dawn M. Saporito and husband Charles of Wells, ME; 3 grandchildren, Brandon Moreau, Brandon and Ali Saporito; sister Sue Samenfeld and husband John of Weare, NH; brother in law, Dean Taylor.

At this time, there will be no public services.  Friends who wish may contribute to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute;  Hematologic Malignancies Division, P.O. Box 849168 ,  450 Brookline Avenue,  Boston, MA 02215
