Donald B. Preston

Donald B. Preston, 82 of Somersworth, NH, passed away September 7, 2024 with his family by his side.

He was born June 12, 1942 in Barrington, NH, the son of John and Vida (Lund) Preston and graduated Austin Cate Academy in Strafford.  Donald grew up on a dairy farm in Barrington, NH, also raising vegetables and animals and had fond memories of his horse named Nancy.

Donald joined the U.S. Air Force, servicing during the Viet Nam Era in North Africa.  Upon returning to the states, Donald started his career at Davidson Rubber in Dover, NH, retiring as a Lab tech after 40 years. He and his wife Janet of 57 years, enjoyed their years of wintering in Kissimmee, FL.

Donald will be forever remembered as always smiling, keeping everyone laughing with his amazing sense of humor.   There’s nothing more he loved than kidding around and joking with his friends and family.  He was an avid Patriots fan and much to his children’s dismay, he was also a Yankees fan!

He was pre-deceased by David, Loren and Deane Preston.  Surviving are his wife, Janet (Moore) Preston of Somersworth, NH, 2 sons, Ernest (Jimsy) Rose, Jr and his wife Lisa of North Berwick; David Rose and wife Tina of Berwick; 4 daughters, Brenda Rose of Somersworth, NH, Robin Eschmann of Portsmouth, NH, Donna Ford of North Berwick and Beth Rose of Somersworth, NH as well as 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, September 16 at 11am at the Hillside Cemetery, Route 4, North Berwick, ME.  Services are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick, ME.  Condolences may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com
