Obituary
Donald E. Nielsen, 94, of Suffield, CT and Winthrop, ME passed away Tuesday, April 25th at Suffield By the River nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Nielsen was born March 8, 1929 in Dover NH. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Kezar) Nielsen. He is survived by his son Peter and wife Mary Richards of Winthrop, ME, granddaughter Dr. Sarah Richards-Kim, her husband Dubek and children Edison, Leonides and Franklin of Yarmouth ME; granddaughter Hannah Richards and children Austen and Willow of Belfast, ME. Also his son Steven Nielsen and wife Lyn of Manchester, CT; granddaughter Kimberly Gordon and husband Glenn of Avon,CT and their son Griffin Thor, and grandson Erik Nielsen, wife Kara and son Jack of Manchester, CT. He is also survived by brother-in-law Charles “Skip” Kezar of North Berwick, six nieces and nephews: Nona Thompson, Mary Mathews and Lloyd Neal Jr, and James Kezar, Elaine Lajoie and Rev. Timothy Kezar, their spouses and children.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Winona Nielsen of Berwick, ME and three sisters: Beatrice “Terry” Libby, Winona “Winnie” Neal and Gladys “Dee” Mathews.
Nielsen graduated from University of New Hampshire in 1949, served in the US Air Force Reserve and spent the remainder of his working career with the US Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1983.
