Dennis Harriman Obituary

Dennis Allen Harriman, 49 of Sanford, entered his final trip through the great gates on December 21, 2020 when his engine gave out after several mechanical issues could not be repaired, stage 4 lung cancer.  Born December 16, to parents Richard and Sherry (Stevens) Harriman of Sanford. He attended elementary school in Wells, then Sanford, graduating from Sanford High School in 1991 participating in Band and Chorus throughout. He was a 25 year plus member of both Mousam Oddfellows Lodge and Bauneg Beg Grange.

He took on many odd jobs during his life. Dennis could fix any small engine you brought him and was a good mechanic, tore down and cleaned out houses/barns/cellars, hauled junk, lawnmowing and other various tinkering jobs.

A BIG storyteller, definitely a talker, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed the mud runs, small tractor/lawnmower racing, built model cars, and liked radio-controlled cars & trucks. He made friends easily no matter where he went and would start up a conversation with anyone he met.  He was genuinely interested in the person he was talking to. Dennis always wanted to know how things worked and asked questions to get his answers.

Dennis is survived by his parents, two sons Brandon Harriman of Sanford and Andrew Harriman of Opelika, Alabama, being very proud of his sons letting everyone know all about them; three Grandsons, Marcus, Brasin, & Grayden, whom Grandpa Dennis loved unconditionally, a big twinkle in his eyes whenever he spoke of them; two sisters Faye Harriman and Julie (Harriman) Randall; three nephews Zai, Mathew, & Jacob and his long-time special friend Tina Daniel.

Dennis became part of a new type of close-knit family group and he wanted to say thank-you to this wonderful group of folks for all their care, kindnesses and assistance they gave so warmly. Also, a very heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers of the hospice care team for their skilled and compassionate care during his time there.

A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 4-6pm with a service at 530 at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME.  Condolences may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com
