David L. Randall, Sr., 80, of Sanford Road, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2021 after a period of failing health.
He was born September 18, 1940 in Kennebunk, the son of Harvey and Minnie (Welch) Randall and a 1959 graduate of Wells High School. After graduation, David proudly served in the United States Navy as an aircraft engine mechanic and earned a Good Conduct medal and Navy unit Commendation Ribbon. In 1961, David had the honor of driving the Maine delegate in the Inaugural parade of President John F. Kennedy.
During this time David married Josephine (Perkins) Randall, eventually settling back in Wells to raise their family. For his entire career, David worked in the Automotive business as a parts manager. His expertise was sought after from many area dealerships. For several years, he was a member of the Wells Branch Volunteer Fire Department.
Gardening vegetables and flowers has always had a big part in David’s life. He also enjoyed finding yard sales and camping all over, especially going to the races. He had an entire room dedicated to his NASCAR collection. He took pride in participating in the Pease greeters welcoming procession and speaking with the current service members.
After 37 years of marriage, Josephine passed away in 1997. In 1998, he met and married Bernice (Phillips) Webber. They attended Bethel Christian Church together where he had a special relationship with the Lord. David was a hardworking and honorable man. He was a wonderful role model for all of his children and grandchildren with his big heart, mild-mannered personality and devotion to his family. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t call all of his children and wife’s children just to say “hello, how are you?” They will all miss hearing his voice on those daily calls.
David lived vicariously through all of his kids and grandkids. They kept him young at heart and full of joy. He attended as many events as he could and enjoyed following their individual journeys.
David was predeceased by his first wife, Josephine (Perkins) Randall; 2 brothers, Richard (Buzzy) Randall and Forrest Randall; 2 sisters, Lois Fleming and Elizabeth Romprey. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 22 years, Bernice (Phillips) Randall; 3 children; son David (Lorraine) Randall; 2 daughters, Shelly (Dan) Littlefield and Lisa Randall, all of Wells; 7 step children; Joseph (Sue) Webber of Sanford, Pauline (James) Gerhart, Thomas (Jamie) Webber, Karen ( Steven) Reinholdtsen all of North Berwick, Randolph (Nancy) Webber of Pennsylvania, Timothy Webber of Oviedo, FL, Shelly (Mark) Stevens of Lebanon, ME; 32 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; sister Marilyn Foster of Norwich, CT; many nieces and nephews and his little cat, Gizmo that he adored.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11 am at Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick with military honors. Interment to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Wells.
