David Patrick Leary

David Leary, beloved son of Francis and Eileen Leary, father to David, Liam, and Nara, cherished brother of Michael, Jeanne, Tricia, and Tim, and loving companion of Loralyn, passed away on August 16, 2024. David, known for his ready sense of humor, was a loving uncle to nieces Amy and Bridget and nephews Joey, Scotty, Michael, Jack, and Brendan. He was also blessed with a life that included many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. 

David grew up in Abington, Massachusetts, but from an early age during summer vacations to the Lakes region, grew to deeply love his adopted home state of Maine. He loved the simple things -- fishing, walking in the woods with friends and dogs, and exploring the backroads, always eager to see what adventure and beauty of nature was in store. 

Dave spent his adult life mastering the operation of heavy machinery with his work taking him from Maine and southern New Hampshire to Boston and New York. He happily recounted his work experiences and would share the treasures that he saw or found along the way.

Dave readily shared his talents with others generously grabbing his tools and setting to work to make household repairs. No job was too big or too small. From righting a sagging fence door or painting a ceiling, to constructing intricate stone walls and fixing a leaky roof, these were typical of the tasks he would take on for his parents, family, and friends. 

Dave deeply loved his family and friends and found great joy in sharing a cookout with them or sitting on the porch catching up on life and sharing stories. Anyone who was blessed to meet Dave came to love his hearty laugh and dedication and loyalty to others.
