Danielle Michelle Carrier, 49, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Hollis, Maine on January 7, 2026, after a long and difficult battle with health complications. Born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor, Maine to Debra Ann Robshaw Vaughn and Patrick Henry Carrier, Danielle came into this world with a gift for caring that would define her entire life.
Her daughter, Tailor Raye, was her world. Everything Danielle did, she did with Tailor in her heart. As a young single mother, Danielle worked her way through Stratham School of Nursing, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing while raising her daughter. She dedicated her career to healing others, both as a registered nurse and as an RN nursing instructor. She was gifted, talented, and deeply empathetic - the kind of nurse who made patients feel seen and families feel heard. Her calling was never just a job; it was who she was.
For those who knew her, Danielle was the family sage. Her wisdom ran deep, and she offered it generously. She believed in Ohana - “Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten” - and she lived that truth every day. At Never Say Never Farms in Wells, Maine, she created a world where horses grazed, dogs ran, cats lounged, bunnies hopped and kids grew up surrounded by love, acceptance, animals, nature and FUN. To Danielle, Never Say Never Farm was home to anyone in need of one. The farm’s name said everything about how she approached life: with spunk, hope and a lot of defiance.
Life did not deal Danielle a fair hand, but she met every challenge with a resilience that inspired everyone around her. Even when her own health faltered, her instinct was still to care for others rather than herself. That was simply who she was.
Danielle is survived by her daughter, Tailor Raye Carrier; her mother, Debra Ann Robshaw Vaughn; her Wife of 21 years, Darcie Maher, her sister, Christy Pugsley and her children Kayden, Carter, and Landon; her brother, Brendon Carrier and family; and her cousin/sister, Adrienne Wylder, along with Adrienne’s children, Fiona Cornwall and Christian Torchia. She also leaves behind extended family members Tracy Thurston, Kaitlyn Murphy and family, and Leah Weaver and family. She was predeceased by her father, Patrick Henry Carrier, with whom she now rests. She also survived by canine loves in Sadie, her little “brudda” Desty and her Grandpup Lyla who she loved as deeply as her human family. She leaves behind a family who loved her fiercely and will carry her wisdom forward.
Services to be announced.
