Clifford "Kippy" Ridlon III Obituary

Clifford (Kip) L. Ridlon

Kip was born in Bridgton on December 5, 1944 in the hospital on Main Hill to Dorothy (Wyman) and Junior Ridlon.  Kip grew up in North Bridgton and attended the Bridgton Academy. Upon leaving the B.A. Kip joined the U.S. Army. After his initial enlistment he continued to serve for another 10 years in the Army Reserves.

Kip married Lynda Ascani of South Paris in April of 1965.  They lived in Gorham, Maine while Lynda attended Gorham State Teachers College. Following Lynda's graduation the couple moved to Bridgton where Kip built their home on Mount Henry Road. In March of 1971 Kip and Lynda welcome twin boys, Peter and Patrick.

Kip had various jobs throughout his life including working for Milt Cross at his service station, working at the Gorham IGA while Lynda was in college, and many years of employment for Hayes Western Auto, then later Hayes True Value.  He worked for Yankee Machine Industries in Casco, followed by years as a bus driver/ bus mechanic for SAD 61. In the mid 80s Kip started his own carpentry business which he continued through the rest of his life, building many homes throughout the Lakes Region including a second home for he and Lynda on Costello Lane in North Bridgton.

Kip was a family man, which was constantly evident. He was devoted to his wife of 58 years, Lynda, and his two sons, Peter and Patrick, as well as his daughter-in-law Joanne. Kip particularly cherished his two granddaughters, Corban and Kendyl. Kip had two brothers, John and Sam, and three sisters Lolly, Linda and Cynthia, all of whom Kip was close to. Kip also loved each and every one of his many nieces and nephews, as well as his large extended family.

Kip's life was centered around his Christian faith. Kip and Lynda attended the Bridgton Alliance Church and later the Casco Alliance Church. Kip served in both churches and led many home Bible Studies throughout the years. A lot of close friendships which continued throughout the rest of Kip's life were made at these churches.

Kip was a reliable friend and seemingly knew everyone in the Bridgton area.  He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, it would please Kip if any donations in his memory were made to the Casco Alliance Church, Casco, Maine.

A public Celebration of Life will be held at the Casco Alliance Church on Saturday May 20, 2023 at 12 noon. The Church will provide refreshments following. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
