Charles Lowell Neal

Charles was the youngest of 3, born to Arthur H. Neal and Etta A. (Boston) Neal, in South Berwick, Maine at the South Berwick Hospital on Main St. on 03/09/1932. He attended and graduated from Berwick Academy in 1952. In 1953, he met Fay Anne Ramsdell and January 9, 1954, they were married. Oct 1953- Oct 1955, he served in the Army and fought in the Korean War. January 9, 2020, they celebrated 66 years of marriage until she passed away on 4/18/2020. Together, they raised 2 girls, Lucinda Jo (Neal) Nadeau and Kandis Doricia (Neal) Keith, in South Berwick, Maine. Charlie worked many jobs in his lifetime. He worked with Ellis Hatch catering, he drove dump and plow trucks for McKenna in Dover and surrounding areas, he hot topped with William Harriman Trucking, he was a janitor in Marshwood High School in the late 70’s. Finally, he worked and retired at Pratt and Whitney, in North Berwick, doing maintenance in 1998. In 2007, they moved to Paradise Park, Rochester, NH and would spend 12 years together there, until Fay became ill and needed to go live with her oldest daughter, in South Berwick, Maine. Charlie faithfully drove down 2-3 times a week to visit with her and spend quality time watching TV., sometimes bringing their dog down to visit or going out to eat. He will be lovingly remembered for teaching his kids and grandkids responsible gun ownership, hunting , fishing, trapping, tracking, wildlife, the importance of hard work and work ethics. A sense of humor, old cars, drag racing, NASCAR racing and telling stories were always on the menu at any family gathering. He loved taking the grandkids out to breakfast to the local places, Flynn’s News, Mayo’s, etc. and then driving around for hours visiting friends. His is survived by his oldest daughter, Lucinda Jo Nadeau and her husband Charles Nadeau, South Berwick, Maine, his youngest daughter, Kandis Doricia Keith and her husband, Michael Keith, Maine, and his brother in law, Floyd Ramsdell with his wife, RuthAnn of Rochester, NH. Grandkids include Desiree N Lambert, with her significant other, CJ Geering, Portsmouth, NH, Wayne C Wellwood with his significant other Shelby Soulia, South Berwick, Maine, and Bryanne M Horner with husband Chace Horner, South Berwick, Maine. Nathaniel Merchant with wife, Catherine, Maine. Elijah Merchant, N.H. Great Grand Kids include Kaiden and Liam Horner, South Berwick, Maine and Abel and Alissa Wellwood, South Berwick, Maine. Iris Merchant, Maine and Eleah, Azarriah and Phoenix Merchant, N.H. He has many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly and would lend an ear to those who needed it, especially, after losing one of their own parents. A special Thank You to Wentworth Hospice who provided peace and comfort in his final days.
