Carolyn May Bragdon 88, passed away on Thursday November 12, 2020 after a brief illness.
Carolyn was born March 21, 1932 at York Hospital. She was the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Hasty. She grew up in South Berwick, Maine and graduated from Berwick Academy in 1949. After graduating, she attended Boston School of Dental Nursing then worked as a dental assistance for 2 years for Dr. Hanscom. In 1971 she was employed by the Wells-Ogunquit school system as a teacher’s assistant which she truly enjoyed. She influenced many young lives and retired in June 1994 after 23 years. Carolyn was an active member of the Wells Branch Baptist Church, taught Junior Church there for many years, and attended various Bible study groups, she was also a member of York County Extension and the Red Hat Society.
Carolyn married Archie Stevens on April 23,1953. Shortly after their son Archie was born, Archie Sr. died of diabetes on June 23, 1957. Carolyn later married Fred Bragdon Jr. on October 30, 1959. They were married for 54 years before Fred passed away on October 12, 2013. They enjoyed a life in Wells with their 3 children that grew to include 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren with whom she loved to spend time with.
Carolyn cherished family gatherings, time spent with friends and growing her faith. In her younger years she enjoyed knitting and canning from the family garden. She would attend her children and grandchildren’s many school activities. She liked to cook and try new recipes. She enjoyed watching the birds outside her window, loving her kitties Max & Misty and taking walks along the beach.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Ethel Hasty, brother Wesley Hasty, sister Zana Littlefield, first husband Archie Stevens Sr. and second husband Fred Bragdon Jr.
Carolyn was greatly loved and will be forever missed by her son Archie Stevens and wife Julie her daughter Tammy McCormick and son Glen Bragdon; her grandchildren Aaron Stevens, Brandon Stevens, Brooke Stevens, Ryan McCormick, Meagan McCormick and Nick Bragdon; her great grandchildren Tesfahun and Mulugeta Stevens; along with many other family and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday November 18, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, South Berwick ME. Processional will leave Johnson’s Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick at 12:30pm. Masks are required at the gravesite.
